I've been a fan of vreid, for many albums and lifehunger (imo) is their most alluring. I definitely wasn't expecting to hear a song like, "hello darkness" on the album; it's the track that sold me on the album actually, and let's not forget the artwork! Very appealing and imaginative and definitely helps put the album into perspective. cheers!!! 🍻
Favorite track: Hello Darkness.
A fun and refreshing black metal effort which blends the classic BM vibe with just the right blend of riffage and grooves to maximise your headbanging (with a giant grin on your face, of course). And the use of clean vocals is an unexpected pleasure.
Favorite track: One Hundred Years.
Norway's VREID return with the new album 'LIFEHUNGER'. The spiritual successor to the legendary WINDIR, VREID have since championed the majesty and tradition of melodic black metal, and given it a unique rock edge. Tracks such as "One Hundred Years", "Dead White" and "Black Rites in the Black Nights" sees the band blend triumphant lead guitars with sombre melodies and ferocious blast beats. 'LIFEHUNGER' is truly extreme metal devoid of genre convention, and redefines darkness within its metallic grandeur.
Take a handful of Agalloch, sprinkle in a bit more black and pour a healthy dose of death and you've got this force of fucking nature called UADA. An excellent album, touching on a variety of genres but maintaining a cohesive atmosphere from start to finish. A joy to listen to. Cephalic Miasma
